Recap of the 2018 Myrtle Beach Open (March 24-25):

The Champions Dinner honoring the 2017 Myrtle Beach Open Champion – David J. Carney.

(Pictured from left going clockwise: Nate Kraynak, Sabara, David Carney, Ed Grambo, Paul Koch, David King, Vincent Sobocinski, Mike Marino, Chris Meyer)

Random pictures of our friendly lies, views, and brilliant bunker play:

Vincent catching some rest in between holes on the opening round en route to a career low 45 on the front 9. The group in front of him is so slow!

Hey Paul, dreaming about your lost clubs? Is Spirit your favorite airline?

Even the champ was susceptible to a few shotguns.

😬  This is how you don’t win championships.

Is my hair still in place while I shotgun?  Courtney loves my hair.

The 2018 Myrtle Beach Open Champion – Vincent J. Sobocinski, III.  A strong Sunday performance of a 104 captured that elusive first major trophy for Vince.  Brilliant play.  Let’s take a picture of you and your trophy at Nacho Hippo at the Myrtle Beach Airport.

The Champ, basking in his well “earned” victory, en route back to Philly.

Awards:

Champion – Vincent J. Sobocinski, III

Most Miserable – David J. Carney

Most Shotguns – Mike Sabara – 10* (although there is much debate that he owes more…)

Best Dressed – no one – it was cold AF

Most injuries – Vincent Sobocinski (cracked skin, self inflicted non-contact knee injury on hole 16 of final round)

Most swings with the same club – Grambo (132 swings over three rounds with a hybrid)

Most surprising performance (positive) – Vincent Sobocinski

Most surprising performance (negative) – David King – losing to Sabara

Most Humbled Golfer – Pook. Pure arrogance before Myrtle, tons of defeat during Myrtle including no round in the 80s.

General Custer Award (late charge but fell short) – Chris Meyer.

Longest Drive – Mike Marino (427 yards – not sure which direction though)

Great Attitude Award – Nate Kraynak (immune to Carney’s misery and complaints about the weather)

Best Conversation Exchange of the Trip:

Sabara: I’ll have the flounder sandwich and what would you get fries or tots?

Waitress: I wouldn’t get the flounder sandwich.

Worst Airline – Spirit

Likelihood of returning to Myrtle – 0.01%

Legends Golf Resort Courses Rating – 3/10
